Day 1: Operation GAD

I'm a student at Gettysburg College. I'm spending my Summer as a Tour Guide for Gettysburg College. I plan to keep this blog to record interesting things that happen to me this Summer. I will officially begin touring on May 30 and will continue until classes begin. I will have three weeks leave following finals to mentally prepare myself to work for the College this Summer.

This is the first experience as a newly hired tour guide. GAD, or Get Acquainted Day, took place on Saturday. The purpose to GAD is for accepted students to spend a day on Gettysburg's campus and find out for sure whether they would like to commit to spending four years here. I had a cool opportunity to set up the Allies table in the activities fair and give tours. I gave two tours and met two accepted students. It was great to see that they had decided upon Gettysburg despite the very bad weather (it poured on and off all day).

So the journey begins...I met several other tour guides as well but only one of them will be a Summer tour guide with me. She has gone to France and Japan--I'm very excited to hear about all of her travels.

Now, I should be studying, practicing, cleaning, etc., but I'm not. I have practice in 20 minutes for You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. Our show opens on Thursday, so this week will be busy in addition to all of the work I have to do.

Good Night, and Good Luck--Dave
